Most solar installations in the U.S. haven't reached the end of their useful lives, but there are still many reasons why a project may need to be decommissioned.
Not every installation is built the way it was supposed to be. Oversights, poor workmanship and more might not surface until years into a system's life, when production has quietly been underperforming or a failure finally forces the issue.
Across many installations — particularly those built during the industry's rapid expansion — connector failures and wire management deficiencies aren't isolated issues. They're everywhere at once.​
